Seeing a player like Coutinho being at the centre of one of the most talked about transfer sagas of the summer clearly got to Inter, who were desperate not to let another gem slip through their fingers and end up at Anfield.
If you’ve been a long time fan of Sport Witness, you might remember a few articles at the beginning of the summer regarding Jürgen Klopp’s interest in a young Belgian defender playing for the Serie A side.
His name is Zinho Vanheusden, and, at 19 years of age, has already become a regular member of his country’s U21 side, proving to many he could be one of the safe bets for the future.
Well, all throughout spring, Liverpool were putting pressure on Inter to sell him to them, but the newly backed Italians dug their heels, and refused to let him go.
Now the club’s number four centre-back, behind Milan Skriniar, Miranda and Andrea Ranocchia, the youngster is on the verge of signing a new deal, and everyone is very proud of that achievement.
So much so, in fact, that most articles, including this one from PassioneInter, feel the need to mention Liverpool, and Coutinho, for that matter.
Basically, Liverpool’s hunt for Vanheusden is over. For now, at least.
