Saturday’s edition of L’Equipe has a feature on several superstars who could be moving clubs next summer. Of course, being a French newspaper, L’Equipe give special attention to PSG, and that’s where Kylian Mbappe comes into the picture.
The striker has been repeatedly linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid in recent years. A Reds transfer has always felt unlikely given the costs which would be associated with it, but the closer Mbappe gets to the end of his contract the more possible it becomes.
With a deal ending in June 2022, the Frenchman has some power when it comes to negotiating a renewal with PSG. Should he get to next summer without a new deal then his value will inevitably start to slip, and that’s how Liverpool could make a swoop.
L’Equipe say Jurgen Klopp’s side have been keen on signing Mbappe ‘for many years’, and therefore will be watching what’s going on with his situation, hovering to see if there’s a genuine chance of a move happening.
Neymar, who is in the same contract situation, recently spoke publicly about how happy he is at the Ligue 1 club.
Mbappe hasn’t done that, which aids speculation about his future, and will likely encourage further claims about Liverpool and Real Madrid.
