Recent claims around Liverpool’s transfer finances have insisted the Premier League champions won’t be spending big this summer.
Despite Reds interest being repeatedly reported, Timo Werner signed for Chelsea earlier this summer. That was widely put down to Liverpool’s lack of funds, however, it did feel like their interest had been overstated.
Strong claims of interest in Thiago Alcantara have been coming from Germany, but again it doesn’t feel like the Merseyside club are currently doing anything concrete in that regard.
Abendzeitung München, a newspaper local to Thiago’s club Bayern Munich, report Liverpool have ‘flinched’ at the €30m asking price, and that could see Jurgen Klopp miss out on the midfielder.
PSG have been dragged into the picture, and the feeling is that they’d have no problems paying the fee which Bayern require. Whilst Thiago has been keen on the idea of a move to Anfield, it’s reported he’d also be attracted by the chance to play alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe at the French club.
Bayern Munich, meanwhile, are still disappointed that Thiago has decided he wants to move elsewhere, so it’s unlikely they’re going to be too helpful in negotiations.
