Former Liverpool player Dietmar Hamann has helped German magazine SportBild produce a big feature on the top Premier League clubs and their chances this season.

Obviosuly praising Jurgen Klopp and hyping Liverpool’s chances of success, Hamann wasn’t quite so positive on Manchester United, believing there are real problems with manager Jose Mourinho.

Hamann isn’t sure what plan Mourinho has at Manchester United and doesn’t recognise him as the same manager who used to stand in front of his players at Chelsea.

It’s the treatment of players that seems to have really stood out for the Liverpool Champions League winner. Hamann believes that Mourinho is being too harsh, banishing players and criticising them publicly, but still uneven in his treatment.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Jesse Lingard, Luke Shaw and Bastian Schweinsteiger are all named.

Hamann believes that Mourinho’s insinuation Mkhitaryan struggled because the Manchester derby was such a big and intense match is nonsense, given he’s played in the equal intense derbies between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke.

With Luke Shaw coming back this season from his serious injury of the last campaign, Hamann believes Mourinho has been especially harsh and points out the player has been working with a sports psychologist to get his confidence back after injury, so his manager’s pressure won’t help.

Meanwhile, it’s suggested Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba aren’t getting pressure from the manager. Given the imbalance, Hamann believes Mourinho will lose the Manchester United team with such methods, and if he continues on this path ‘won’t last the winter’ at Old Trafford.
