Daniel Sturridge is not a priority for Inter, but Crystal Palace may be able to change that.
That’s how Gazzetta dello Sport open their article on the subject on Friday, making it clear that while they are interested in what the English striker has to offer, they’d much rather focus on someone like Rafinha instead.
However, that doesn’t mean the Liverpool forward won’t become an ‘opportunity’ as the transfer window closes, and that’s the ‘mentality’ the Serie A’s director of football Piero Ausilio and his technical director Walter Sabatini have regarding a transfer for Sturridge.
Despite this, they do appreciate the fact the England international can play either up front or just behind the main striker, a bit like Eder, but before any move is made, they’ll want to know they can get a good deal for the Italian.
As Gazzetta explain, ‘it would be useless to bring someone like Sturridge to Milan’ only for him to have even more competition than he currently has at Anfield.
Mauro Icardi certainly isn’t going anywhere, so it would be a move to help complement the Argentinian rather than to try and replace him.
Fortunately for Inter, there’s reports elsewhere in Italy that Crystal Palace have made an offer for Eder.
Corriere dello Sport reported on Friday that Crystal Palace have submitted a €10-11m offer for the Italian international, and he’s currently considering it.
Should Eder move to Selhurst Park then that creates the opening for Inter to sign Sturridge for Liverpool.
It’s becoming an increasingly complicated January transfer window.
