Earlier this week, Calciomercato reported that Liverpool are ‘thinking about buying’ Nicolò Zaniolo after this season.
It was also stated Juventus and Atlético Madrid are in the picture for the AS Roma player and the Reds would have to face a battle from these sides for his signing.
The 22-year-old has been used on the right wing and in an attacking midfield position by José Mourinho this season, during which he has managed four goals and five assists in all competitions.
ASRomaLive.it now report the Merseyside club carried out ‘exploratory surveys’ for the Italy international.
Zaniolo’s current deal runs down in 2024 and his agent, Claudio Vigorelli, told Corriere dello Sport there;s been no negotiations with the Giallorossi.
“Regarding a possible renewal with extension of Nicolò’s contract, I would like to underline that at the moment there is no type of negotiation with the club,” Vigorelli said.
“In fact, Zaniolo is totally focused on finishing the league and the UEFA Conference League matches in the best possible way, with the utmost commitment and the utmost determination.”
The Italian capital club should address Zaniolo’s contract situation sooner or later, in order to avoid a drop in his valuation.
According to ASRomaLive.it, his current asking price is at €40-50m and it can continue to rise, if Mourinho’s man were to shine in the second half of the season.
