PSV Eindhoven’s Donyell Malen finished the 2020/21 campaign with 27 goals and 10 assists and managed two assists for the Netherlands at Euro 2020.
It’s no surprise his form over the last 12 months has caught the attention of Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.
Two days ago, Voetbal International journalist Marco Timmer reported the Reds are in talks with the forward’s agent, Mino Raiola
Journalist Rik Elfrink of Dutch newspaper Eindhovens Dagblad states Jürgen Klopp’s side are a ‘candidate’ to sign the 22-year-old, while a move to Dortmund ‘seems logical’.
Elfrink, however, warns it’s ‘premature to jump to conclusions’ since the attacker has ‘not yet made a final choice’ over his next destination.
Over in Germany, Bild explain the PSV star is the main candidate to replace Manchester United bound Jadon Sancho at BVB.
Dortmund’s deal for the Netherlands international ‘suddenly shakes’ because the Dutch club want more money and Raiola wants to ‘triple’ his client’s salary.
It’s claimed PSV are ‘asking well over €30m’, but the Bundesliga club ‘do not want to pay’ more than €27m.
Malen currently earns €2m per season and Raiola wants the attacker’s salary to be increased by ‘three-fold’.
With Liverpool in the picture for Malen, they can get ahead of Dortmund by finding an agreement with both Raiola and PSV.
