Liverpool ‘would be interested’ in Barcelona’s Ousmané Dembélé this summer, with the Spanish club set to put him on the transfer market.

Sport report that the Catalan giants have already decided to sell the Frenchman after three turbulent and disappointing years in Spain.

Dembélé arrived at the Nou Camp in a £112.5m deal from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 as Barça looked to replace Neymar following his move to Paris Saint Germain.

There was much hope around the forward, who had shone in Dortmund and Rennes before that, but injuries and a lack of form have ruined his time at the club.

A record of 19 goals and 17 games in 74 games has led Barcelona to decide to move him on this summer and Liverpool would be among his suitors.

Sport explain that Jürgen Klopp’s side, who have already been linked elsewhere this summer, ‘would be interested’ in a move should the 23-year-old be available.

However, the ‘continuous injuries’ he has suffered, which have caused him to miss as many games as he has played in Spain, mean they will approach any potential deal with ‘caution’.

Barcelona are naturally hoping to recoup as much money as they possibly can in a sale but know that it will be ‘difficult’ to sell him in ‘good conditions’.

They plan to use him in the Champions League when that returns to give him a platform to shine and raise his value, if not they will have to ‘revalue him’.

Dembélé, for his part, wants to stay and be a success but Barcelona’s plans are different so they will meet with his agent, Moussa Sissoko, to inform him of this decision so that he can find a new club for his client ahead of next season.

At this point there is no mention of an asking price, nor have they received any ‘firm offers’ at present.

However, it is claimed Liverpool wouldn’t be the only club interested with Juventus and Paris Saint Germain also thought to be suitors.
