Some of you might recognise the name, since the DR Congo international spent three years at Newcastle United following an £11m move from Anderlecht between 2015-18 before being sold at a loss for £4.2m to Porto.
His performances have caught the eye of a few teams, with TuttoMercatoWeb claiming the player’s contract situation makes him an appetising target for clubs, as his deal ends in 2022.
The website state ‘this should be the summer of the sale’ with Porto reportedly valuing him at around €15m.
Napoli are said to have been ‘the first to inquire about his situation’, as they know one of either (or both) Maksimović or Koulibaly could leave in the summer, but ‘they aren’t the only team to have shown interest: in England, Liverpool have asked for information’.
An interesting target for Klopp, but if funds are tight this summer without Champions League money, perhaps a shrewder target like this one could be what’s best for the club instead of spending big when both Van Dijk and Gomez will be returning.
