Liverpool ‘have already started courting’ player – Club willing to give discount

Earlier this week, we saw the German media reporting Liverpool’s interest in Schalke 04 youngster Assan Ouédraogo.

Sky Deutschland claimed Jurgen Klopp has been following the midfielder, who’s been impressing in Bundesliga 2 lately.

Today, it’s time for the Italian press to speak of the race for Ouédraogo. And as Calcio Mercato features a story on the 17-year-old, Liverpool get a new mention.

Their story is mostly highlighting the interest from AC Milan, making it clear that the Rossoneri would need to face some heavy competition for the signing.

Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Liverpool are said to be the clubs who ‘have already started courting’ the player, who’s expected to have ‘important news’ on his future in the coming days.

A development in this story which is of the interest of all clubs is that Schalke 04 are said to be willing to sell the player for less than his release clause.

So even though it first seemed like €20m would be needed to sign Ouédraogo, Calcio Mercato now says the German club ‘can open’ to a discount of €7-8m, which feels typically optimistic from the Italian media.
