It’s not only at Manchester United that Casemiro had a poor start to the season.

The midfielder has also been having disappointing performances for Brazil, and was one of the low points of last night’s 2-0 defeat to Uruguay.

As Globo Esporte rates the players, they give Casemiro a 4 out of 10, while their readers gave him just 2.3/10.

The outlet writes that the Manchester United player ‘made technical errors that are unusual for a player of his calibre’. He failed both in distributing the ball in midfield, and when defending, as he could do little against Uruguay’s attacking threats.

As legendary pundit Galvão Bueno claimed this is the worst Brazilian national team he’s seen in 50 years, he said Casemiro seems ‘off form’.

After the match, Casemiro had a word with the local media, and admitted there’s a lot to improve with the new manager. The quotes come from Globo Esporte.

“Of course, in the short term we have to be realistic and say that we need to improve. As much as we say it’s adaptation, there’s the quality of the players, who are practically the same. It’s not a good time. We have to try to grow, to implement the style of play as soon as possible, which is important for us. As a result, we’ll play better.”

Now back at Manchester United, the midfielder prepares to switch focus to the Premier League, where the Red Devils play Sheffield United on Saturday, and also need a good result to seek a better position in the first months of the season.
