Earlier this week, we covered how Het Nieuwsblad were dealing with Anderlecht’s rather awful form, and the message they sent Henry Onyekuru.
The Nigerian was often criticised by his manager, Hein Vanhaezebrouck, for not following instructions and relying too much on his instinct during games.
Despite this, the Everton loanee was one of the side’s most influential players, scoring nine goals, until he got injured.
At first, there was fear he could miss the rest of the season, and that’s what Anderlecht’s official line was, but Everton, having examined their player personally, believed he could return a lot quicker.
According to DH, despite Everton believing the Nigeria international will be back and ready to play in about a month or so, Anderlecht fear he’ll get injured again and the outlet seem to think there’s little chance he’ll be seen again before the end of the campaign.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Toffees half force the Belgian side to use their young forward, considering they appear happy for him to play by the end of March, or if they just go along with the Jupiler Pro League champions’ wishes of being cautious.
This likely all stems from Anderlecht’s medical team feeling an operation was necessary, and Everton and Onyekuru disagreeing.
