Soon after the transfer window shut and the Riyad Mahrez circus was well underway at King Power Stadium, SportBild in Germany claimed Leicester City were looking at Thorgan Hazard to potentially replace the Algerian should he leave in the summer.

There wasn’t much detail to it, but they did state that if the Foxes offered around €30m for the Belgian winger, Borussia Mönchengladbach would find it hard to refuse.

Chelsea could also join the mix since they added a clause that allows them to match any bid accepted for Eden’s brother when they sent him to Germany back in 2015, and that’s where we left things.

The 24-year-old, who never featured for the Blues, has now spoken to Sport/Foot about his future, and while returning to the Premier League is a potential option, he’s not exactly in a rush to do so.

He said: “England is appealing, but when you speak to players who play there, they also tell you that Germany seems like an great league. We have the best stadiums, the best infrastructures. The atmosphere is also ‘hotter’ than in England”.

Pressed a bit further when asked if he felt it was time to move up a notch, he explained: “I listen to what is being said about me, but it’s not something I bother myself with. My father deals with off the pitch stuff. Apparently, a few clubs are interested, but we’ll analyse all that at the end of the season”.

By the sound of things, Leicester City will have to be rather convincing if they want to attract the Belgium international to King Power Stadium in the summer, and if a bigger Bundesliga side comes knocking, they might struggle to compete.

We’ll have to wait and see, but having made a name for himself elsewhere and stepped out of his brother’s shadow, a return to England, where his every move would be compared to Eden, could be unlikely.
