Lille fans today received some bad news ahead of the Conference League clash against Aston Villa.
Manager Paulo Fonseca has now revealed that winger Edon Zhegrova is set to miss the game due to injury.
As pointed out by Foot Mercato, that’s a ‘big blow’ for Lille, who could surely use the help from the 25-year-old to try to get a place in the semifinals.
Zhegrova has 11 goals and nine assists for the club this season, and even though he couldn’t do much in Aston Villa’s 2-1 win last week, he could make a difference in the return leg.
Outlet Le Petit Lillois says it’s an ankle injury that is taking him out of the game, with him now joining Samuel Umtiti, Rafael Fernandes, NBacho Miramon and Andrej Ilic in the list of injured players, while Adam Ounas is back in the squad.
Now while Lille regret the news, Aston Villa surely have one more reason to be confident about their qualification. It obviously wasn’t easy to beat the French side at Villa Park last week, so Unai Emery’s side will have to show their best on Thursday night.
