Following all the stars from European football Newcastle United have been linked to in the past couple of months, we now get interesting claims from South America regarding a different type of signing.
As reported by Globo Esporte, the Magpies are now interested in Atlético Mineiro youngster Carlos Daniel, who hasn’t even made his debut for the first team yet.
It’s said the 20-year-old has been drawing the attention from clubs from England, Croatia, Portugal and Netherlands, who’ve been in touch with his entourage, and the situation that stands out is the approach from Newcastle, which was detailed by his agent Anderson Fia.
“The contact has been going on since June of last year, it has now been intensified again, because they followed the Copinha. The team was bought by Mohammed bin Salman, but the director continued, and he liked Carlos a lot,” Anderson Fia told Globo Esporte.
According to the agent, Newcastle have been ‘frequently requesting’ scouting numbers from the player. Still, there are no official bids made so far, and he’s protected by a release clause worth €50m.
Carlos Daniel is Atlético’s record holder when it comes to games at the club’s academy, and he was able to draw more interest from Europe when playing the U-20 Copa São Paulo, also known as Copinha, in January this year.
