Arsenal star Jorginho spoke to the Brazilian media following the Gunners’ win against Newcastle United at the weekend.
With Mikel Arteta’s side defeating the Magpies 2-0 at St. James’ Park, they’re stay alive in the title race against Manchester City, even though that does not only depend on their performances anymore.
Jorginho told ESPN Brasil how difficult it was to win the match, explaining that Newcastle are also fighting for big things and that made it a tough challenge for Arsenal.
“It’s clear why. Two teams fighting for important goals, stadium with a very warm atmosphere. It’s wonderful. Everything was beautiful. We knew it would be a very physical match and that we would have to fight hard to get the three points. I think those who watched it had fun,” Jorginho told ESPN Brasil.
“What to do first is win our matches. Then, I don’t know, each with their belief. Those who could pray, light a candle… just kidding. The most important thing is that we win our matches. If we think about them and we don’t win, it’s no use. Then we’ll see what happens.”
Currently standing one point behind Manchester City, Arsenal only have three Premier League games to go. Those are against Brighton & Hove Albion, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Pep Guardiola’s side, however, have one game more. They play against Everton, Chelsea, Brighton and Brentford, besides having a couple of clashes against Real Madrid due to the Champions League’s semifinals.
