On October 10th, AS explained Christian Eriksen would rather move to another club once his contract expires rather than leaving Tottenham Hotspur in January.
Later that day, we covered claims from Marca that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has enlisted intermediaries to get an offer for the Denmark international.
Friday’s edition of Marca claims Eriksen has managed to withstand Levy’s pressure to extend and has so far turned down three approaches from the Champions League runners-up to renew the contract. He wants to leave the club.
The player is aware he is in full control of his future next summer and Tottenham want to avoid that situation at all costs.
Therefore, Levy has already commissioned an agent he trusts, to find a new club for the 27-year-old in January. The report claims the agent has contacted Real Madrid with a mission of reaching an agreement for the transfer in the next window.
The message is clear from the Tottenham chief. It’s better to cash in €20-25m rather than allow Eriksen leave for nothing next summer.
Marca states that message has opened door for the player’s sale in January.
Having received the proposal, Los Blancos are currently considering it and if Eriksen is available for that price, they believe it’s best not to miss the opportunity, especially when Levy slapped down a €250m price tag when Real Madrid first approached him for the Dane.
