While there were some early doubts when José Mourinho took over from Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham, with an iffy start to his time in charge, those have now been firmly dispelled.
The Portuguese manager has turned things around this season, turning Spurs into a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League, in great part thanks to how prolific the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have been.
Facing a tough run of games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal, Mourinho’s men would have been happy with a few points, and yet they’ve walked away with seven from a possible nine, beating Pep Guardiola 2-0, before drawing away to Frank Lampard’s team 0-0 followed by a 2-0 win in the North London derby.
The result has put them top of the Premier League after 11 games on goal difference, with Liverpool in second, and while it’s nice to celebrate, Moussa Sissoko was keen to keep his feet on the ground for now, as he explained to RMC Sport.
He said: “We’ll have to continue this way. We know it’s going to be hard. Each game in the Premier League is hard. We’ve had a series of games playing the big teams, we needed to get points. We did it against City, a good draw at Chelsea and tonight against Arsenal, so it’s good.
“We know the league is long, but let’s enjoy this. Let’s enjoy this top spot, let’s enjoy this derby win and let’s enjoy it with the fans. I think it’ll do them some good too.”
