With claims that Manchester United are looking at Victor Osimhen to bolster their attack for next season, Napoli are scouring the market for a potential replacement.
One of the options named has been Armando Broja, and yet there’s also been vague talk of Edinson Cavani potentially returning.
After all, the current Manchester United forward will be available on a free in the summer once his contract at Old Trafford expires, and with the history the Uruguayan has with the Series A side, it could be a nice little story.
However, there are some who don’t think this is a good idea, with journalist Paolo Del Genio, speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli and relayed by Calico Napoli 1926, making a strong claim against a return for Cavani.
He said: “Let me be unpopular, for me, at the moment, it’s late. It’s late because in the last few seasons, he’s had a lot of injuries. He hasn’t done what we’ve seen before. I don’t think he can help the cause. He’s a great player and you can’t argue that, but I think it’s really late at the moment.
“Manchester United are my second team. I’ve seen all the English games. I want to ask anyone who wants him in blue: how many games have they seen this year for United in which Cavani was the protagonist, but they have to swear to it. If he was fit, I would have taken him regardless of age.”
Signed from Paris Saint-Germain on a free, Edinson Cavani made the desired impact last season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United, but this campaign has been anything but a success for both club and player.
Overall, the 35-year-old has scored 19 goals and assisted another seven in 58 appearances for the Red Devils.
