Mid afternoon on the day after France lost their Euro 2016 final, and Moussa Sissoko is the top story on the websites of both France Football and L’Equipe.
France Football say the player’s good performance against Portugal was met with ‘mild astonishment’ in Newcastle, given how the midfielder performed last season.
They go on to say that after a disappointing season in the Premier League, Sissoko’s performance ‘finally convinced’ those who would doubt the player.
Over at L’Equipe the Sissoko story article is a look at clubs which suit the player. Options which fit Sissoko’s ‘profile’.
The clubs mentioned are Manchester United, Manchester City, PSG, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Juventus.
Stop laughing at the back.
At Manchester United, Sissoko could compete with the other midfielders and provide a different option for Jose Mourinho, say L’Equipe. The newspaper claim Sissoko could be the ‘perfect succesor’ to Yaya Toure at Manchester City, or make Juventus forget about Paul Pogba should he leave.
He’d apparently fit the system of Carlo Ancelotti at Bayern Munich and also has the qualities to beef up the midfield at Real Madrid. PSG is put forward as an option, but L’Equipe worry he may be a substitute there, not really mentioning that for the other clubs.
Ok, permission to start laughing is granted.
