Sometimes at Sport Witness we find a story which is so eyebrow raising that we have to close it all up, pretend it was a mistake, open it again and have a head wobble.
L’Equipe has provided one of those moments on Sunday evening.
The French newspaper claim Liverpool are keen on signing Marouane Fellaini from Manchester United. With a contract ending in June, Fellaini will be available for nothing unless he renews, and L’Equipe claim Liverpool have drawn up a rough three year contract for the midfielder.
Other clubs are also named, there’s interest from Turkey once again in Besiktas, and even AS Monaco and PSG get a mention in the story.
But it’s the Liverpool part which obviously stands out the most and is what L’Equipe lead with.
The idea of any Manchester United player moving to Liverpool is always a surprise, but Fellaini even more so.
Liverpool supporters will have spent many years mocking the midfielder, during his time with Everton and Manchester United, so for Jurgen Klopp to take him on would suggest the manager is very confident Fellaini would be useful at Anfield.
