Real Betis midfielder William Carvalho has not had any offers from the Premier League thus far, despite rumours to the contrary.
That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who cover the midfielder’s situation after months of speculation about a potential move to England.
Leicester City and Tottenham have both been credited with an interest in the midfielder, while Wolverhampton Wanderers were also said to be on the hunt for the Portuguese international.
Indeed, talks with the Foxes were said to be at an advanced stage at one point, with a report claiming they already had an agreement in place with him over a transfer.
ABC dispute that, though, and say that while it was presumed Carvalho could be on the move this summer after a poor season, so far the market is ‘calm’.
While Leicester, Tottenham and Wolves have been ‘closely linked’ on numerous occasions, his representatives have insisted that ‘at no time was there anything with any of those clubs.’
They state that Carvalho never received an offer and he won’t be rushing to make any decision on his future either.
The player is, in fact, happy to remain at Betis and is looking forward to working under Manuel Pellegrini.
Should an offer arrive for him, ABC make clear the midfielder would prioritise a move for sporting reasons as opposed to economic ones.
For now, Betis satisfy his ‘sporting aspirations’, and so any club coming in for him would have to offer him ‘higher levels’ than what is currently on offer.
Right now, however, ‘there is nothing’ with reports of interest from the likes of Leicester, Tottenham and Wolves seemingly very wide of the mark.
