Perhaps the revelation of this season in Ligue 1 so far, Victor Osimhen is now widely seen as one of the young strikers to look out for in the coming years, and Lille, thanks to Luis Campos, will reap the benefits.
However, the story could have been very different had Eduardo Macià, back when he was in charge of scouting at Leicester City, got his way.
Looking at how Ligue 1 side recruit, 20 Minutes in France discussed the similarities between the aforementioned Campos and now Bordeaux director of football in how they approach their job.
They use the example that Macià, during his time at King Power Stadium, had looked to sign Osimhen, who was first owned by Wolfsburg before his loan and subsequent permanent transfer to RSC Charleroi this summer.
A month after that move, the Belgian side cashed in on Lille’s offer of £10.8m for the Nigeria international.
Now, after eight goals and two assists in 13 appearances for Christophe Galtier’s side, there’s already talk of him going for five times that to bigger clubs.
It’s just one of the coulda, woulda, shoulda stories for Leicester City fans, who were close to having a rough gem on their hands early on.
However, there’s no guarantee his development would have been the same had the Foxes bought him, so perhaps it’s better, at least for him, for things to have worked out this way.
