One of the big stories in Brittany during the January transfer window was Leicester City’s interest in Brest’s Ibrahima Diallo.

The young defensive midfielder had landed on the Foxes’ radar, and despite the repeated messages sent in the press from the club’s brass that their starlet would not be sold, the Premier League club made an offer.

It was reported to be of around €16m, but Brest held firm and kept a player who himself wanted to finish the season where he was for stability and out of loyalty to the contract he signed last summer.

The coming months, however, could be tough for the Ligue 1 side, and Le Foot in France claim Leicester ‘should return to the fore’ with a new offer.

They will likely have some competition, as it’s stated ‘many Premier League clubs follow him closely’ and Sevilla ‘could make an offer’.

As for the price, he was bought for around €2m, but the belief is he’s worth more than €10m today.

That means Leicester might simply have to repeat their €16m if they want to beat the competition, but we’ll see when the time comes.

With money hard to come by these days for small Ligue 1 clubs because of the Covid-19 outbreak, Brest might end up being a little bit more desperate in the coming months than they were in January.
