After a defensive midfielder this January, Leicester City decided to turn their attention to Stade Brestois 29’s Ibrahima Diallo.

The interest was first reported back on December 4th by L’Equipe, who explained the Premier League side were very keen on the 20-year-old and ‘would have liked to sign him this summer’.

This desire to sign Diallo was then confirmed by the Ligue 1 side’s director of football late last week, explaining both Leicester and Sevilla had come knocking for the player but that no one would be leaving before the end of the month.

However, with just four days until the end of the transfer window, it appears Brendan Rodgers and co. have decided to try and convince Brest to let go of their starlet.

According to the podcast Brest on Air on Monday, Leicester have made a €16m bid for Diallo, and while the club want to keep him until June, the amount put on the table has made the board ‘seriously think’.

It’s tough to work out whether the source can be trusted or not, but it wouldn’t be impossible for a fan podcast to know someone within the organisation who could have told them this.

After all, Brest aren’t the biggest side around, and the smaller the club, the easier the access is.

There’s also the fact they aren’t exactly gaining a lot by making this up, as spreading false information is likely to damage them more than anything.

We’ll have to see if anyone else picks this up, but it could be in Brest’s interest to accept the offer and try and get the player sent back on loan until the end of the season.

Then again, if Brendan Rodgers wants him now…
