Unlike many national teams around the world, Nigeria have yet to play a game, but that will change on Tuesday when they face the Ukraine in a friendly in Dnipro.
A number of Premier League players have been called up such as Everton’s Alex Iwobi and Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi.
Another player from Brendan Rodgers’ squad was included in Gernot Rohr’s squad for the upcoming two games was Kelechi Iheanacho, but the young striker has yet to join up with his teammates in Ukraine for training.
The reason? According to ‘Eagles top official Patrick Pascal’, Score Nigeria claim the Leicester forward ‘failed to catch his flight from England’.
Another outlet, Brila, listed all the players who trained on Sunday evening, and had Iheanacho as missing, stating he had ‘yet to land in the team’s camp’.
Not exactly a great impression from the Leicester player, and we’ll have to see if that hinders his chances of featuring for his national team in the next week or so, especially with the likes of Victor Osimhen firing on all cylinders at club level.
Iheanacho, down his end, has yet to play a minute of professional football this season under Brendan Rodgers, featuring on the bench for the first two games of the season before being dropped altogether against Sheffield United and Bournemouth.
