Currently boasting Ben Chilwell and Christian Fuchs as their left-back options, Leicester City aren’t in desperate need for a new player at the position, but Il Tempo believe there’s one man who could change their mind.
That defender is Jordan Lukaku, whose desire this summer is to get a move to the Premier League, and the Foxes are currently ‘in pole’ to acquire his services.
The 23-year-old failed to make Roberto Martinez’s final squad for the World Cup in Russia, so has plenty of time to sort out his future in the coming weeks.
With Fuchs’ contract coming to an end next summer, and the Austrian defender on the wrong side of 30, the purchase of Lukaku this summer would make some sense, especially as Romelu’s brother can also feature a bit further up the pitch as a more attacking option.
The same newspaper previously mentioned Southampton as an option for the left-back, but the Saints appear to have fallen behind Leicester, as they are nowhere to be seen in this particular article.
Judging by Simone Inzaghi’s reluctance to use Lukaku last season, and Lazio being on the verge of signing Riza Durmisi from Real Betis, the Belgian’s time in Italy appears to be coming to an end.
A transfer looks likely.
