Leicester City forward Rachid Ghezzal is ‘one step closer’ to a return to Besiktas after all three parties got closer to an agreement.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say Leicester are set to earn around €3m from the Algerian’s departure.
Ghezzal spent last season on loan with the Turkish side after it was made clear he was no longer part of the plans at Leicester.
He proved to be a major hit with the Super Lig side, scoring eight goals and registering 18 assists as a key player in their eventual title success.
They are keen to bring him back on a permanent basis and have been working on that for several months without success.
Numerous reports from Turkey have indicated that talks between Ghezzal’s agent and Besiktas had become strained over his demands, with it even suggested he could go to Galatasaray instead.
It seems there has now been a breakthrough, though, with Foot Mercato reporting he is ‘one step closer’ to finalising his deal with Besiktas.
According to their information, a ‘three-way agreement’ is close to being reached, with Leicester set to pocket €3m plus bonuses from the transfer.
Ghezzal is expected to sign a contract for four years with the Turkish club, although there is no mention of his wages or the bonuses for his agent, two points which have led to delays in the move.
Those issues have seemingly been solved now, and a move appears to be imminent, bringing this transfer saga to an end once and for all.
