Leicester City are named as one of the strong contenders for Atalanta star Robin Gosens, if various reports coming out of Italy are to be believed.
Four days ago, L’Eco di Bergamo explained the Foxes’ €25m offer is ‘not enough’ to land the left-back, as the Serie A side are demanding around €35-40m.
It was also stated Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have an option to extend his contract by a further year, meaning La Dea can keep Gosens at the club until 2023.
Despite all this, the English club have not given up hope of acquiring the 26-year-old’s services. According to Calciomercato, there has been ‘new contacts between Leicester and Gosens’.
Gosens, however, wants to wait until the Premier League season is over and see whether or not Brendan Rodgers’ side will qualify for next season’s Champions League. Qualification for the Europe’s elite club competition is ‘needed’ for him to join the Foxes.
Leicester are fifth in the table with 66 points and are level on points with fourth placed Liverpool [who have a better goal difference]. The two clubs trail Chelsea by a point, who are third in the table.
