It appears that Cengiz Ünder will not be at Leicester City next season.
The Turkish winger was loaned to the King Power Stadium by AS Roma for the season in exchange for €3m, with a further €23-25m purchase clause added to the deal in case Brendan Rodgers was impressed by the 23-year-old.
That hasn’t been the case, as Ünder has only made nine appearances in the Premier League, and while there were a few articles suggesting he could return, Sporx in Turkey firmly believe it will be one and done for the player in England.
They write that ‘having decided not to use the option, Leicester City will send the national football player back to Rome at the end of the season’.
As for what the future holds for Ünder, it’s believed that Fenerbahçe are ‘one of the teams who want to add’ him on loan next season.
Talks are already underway for that, but it will all depend on what the player wants, as a return to Turkey might not be on the cards for him.
Either way, he isn’t staying in Leicester.
