Once again guiding Leicester City to a potential Champions League spot in the Premier League, Brendan Rodgers is a wanted man.
Links to Tottenham following the firing of José Mourinho only exemplified that, meaning there was a period when the Foxes may have thought about a future without their manager.
It seems unlikely that the former Liverpool head coach will want to leave everything he’s started to build at the King Power Stadium, especially with a crop of exciting young players in Youri Tielemans and Wesley Fofana (among others) coming through and developing nicely, but never say never.
That’s why it isn’t entirely unsurprising to see Leicester linked with another manager, even if it might be in passing, in the form of Christophe Galtier.
The French manager is one win away from securing an unlikely Ligue 1 title with Lille, and while he seems happy in the north of France, he’s made it clear he won’t stay there forever.
France Football, looking at where a number of clubs might go fishing for some managerial rejuvenation, explain that Galtier is a ’particularly sought after’ man, and not just in France.
They state Leicester in the Premier League as well as Nice and Lyon wouldn’t mind him to replace their current managers, with ‘the trend’ being an exit if Lille win the title.
To us, Galtier to Leicester is certainly not impossible, but it’s also very unlikely, such is Brendan Rodgers’ affinity to the club since he took over and with a promising future ahead, there’s no knowing yet how far he can take the Foxes.
