Despite having Wilfried Ndidi, Nampalys Mendy and Daniel Amartey (with the latter two combining just one minute of football between them) already at the club, Leicester City are in the market for a new defensive midfielder.
At least, that’s what L’Equipe are reporting on Wednesday afternoon, as they reveal Brendan Rodgers’ side, who currently sit third in the Premier League with a game in hand, are among the clubs interested in Ibrahima Diallo.
The 20-year-old currently plays for Stade Brestois in Ligue 1, and his impressive beginning of the season has caught the attention of ‘many foreign clubs’.
Leicester are one of two clubs named (alongside Sevilla), and it’s claimed the Premier League side ‘would have liked to sign him this winter’.
However, the option to sign him in January was quickly dismissed by both Stade Brestois and the player himself, who ‘would like to (at least) finish the first of the four years on his contract’ at the Ligue 1 club.
Diallo arrived in the summer from Monaco for £1.8m after a successful loan for the 2018-19 season.
