Inter Milan are looking for attackers in the market as Lautaro Martínez continues to be linked with Barcelona.

Het Nieuwsblad claims the Nerazzurri have identified Napoli’s Dries Mertens as a target as they plan to partner him alongside Romelu Lukaku at San Siro.

It’s claimed Antonio Conte is a fan of the 32-year-old and tried signing him for his former club, Chelsea.

Conte spent two seasons at Stamford Bridge between 2016 and 2018 and he wanted the Belgium international during his time at the west London club.

With Mertens’ versatility, the Italian coach thought the current Napoli player could compete with Eden Hazard and co. at Chelsea.

However, the Europa League winners ‘refused’ to bring Mertens because he was then already in his 30s and Chelsea’s board decided to invest on those players who had a resale value.

The Belgian newspaper states Conte will not face the same issue at Inter as the Serie A side would not object his transfer only because of his age.
