Earlier this week, Express in Germany revealed Manchester United had Borussia Mönchengladbach forward Alassane Pléa on a list of players they were monitoring to bolster their attack.
The forward has been in good form this season, scoring eight goals and assisting another seven in 22 Bundesliga appearances, so it isn’t surprising that Premier League clubs, like United, would be keeping an eye on him.
However, if Le10 Sport are to be believed on Thursday, they aren’t the only ones, as Leicester City are also said to be in the mix.
The French website report that Brendan Rodgers’ side are ‘very interested’ in the 27-year-old after scouting him ‘many times’ this season, ‘especially in the past few months’.
It’s stated those in charge at the King Power Stadium are ‘convinced of his talent and his ability to shine in the Premier League’, which means the Foxes ‘could send a very big offer’ to Gladbach, who are ‘expecting a lot of money’ for the Frenchman.
Looking back into our archives, Pléa has been on Leicester’s radar ever since Claude Puel, who managed him at Nice, was in charge, and it wouldn’t be surprising if his name had remained on the board of potential transfer recruits from that moment onwards.
While Jamie Vardy is still performing at a high level, he is also 33, meaning the club will be thinking about what comes next.
Whether his big name replacement arrives this summer, however, remains to be seen.
