Yet to confirm the arrival of Ricardo Pereira from Porto even though various outlets have reported it likely to happen, Leicester City will still be looking at right-backs around Europe.

Going for Benfica’s André Almeida and Marseille’s Bouna Sarr over the January transfer window, the Foxes failed in their attempts for both players, primarily because they refused to pay over €5m for the defenders.

While ‘flattered’ by the interest from the Premier League, the latter of the two remained in the south of France, and has kicked on nicely since being repositioned as a right-back by Rudi Garcia, helping his team fight for a Champions League spot next season and reach the Europa League semi-finals.

Excited by what Marseille can achieve this season, Sarr spoke to the media ahead of their weekend’s clash against Angers, which ended in a 1-1 draw, and put to bed any speculation that might arise in the coming weeks early in order to have a calm summer.

He said, relayed by beIN Sports: “I want to be here in the long run, to be a part of the OM Project. I’ve said it from the start, and what is certain is that I’ll be here next year. I hope we’ll meet our objective and be in the Champions League next season”.

Featuring in the Europa League clash against Salzburg, the 26-year-old has made 43 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal and picking up three assists along the way.
