The Brazilian media has been reporting Lyon’s agreement for the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk winger Tetê, who has also been a target for Leicester City.
According to Yahoo’s journalist Jorge Nicola, the player and his agent are in France sorting the last details for the move.
The 22-year-old is initially joining the Ligue 1 side on a three-month deal, since FIFA authorised players in Ukraine to leave temporarily, but it’s said the clubs also have an agreement for a permanent move in the summer window.
Now it turns out Leicester wanted to take Tetê to England instead, and Nicola writes that the Foxes are one of the clubs who ‘made proposals’ for the player.
They were said to be interested along with Benfica, Milan and Monaco.
However, it’s still not clear how much the French side are paying for Tetê, who’s valued by Transfermarkt at €20m.
Now since Premier League clubs are not taking players from Ukraine during the season, it sounds more likely that Leicester City’s offer would be for a summer deal.
But with footballers looking to leave the clubs from the countries involved in the war as soon as possible, perhaps that’s an advantage Lyon seemingly have by taking him now.
