Leicester City have initiated talks with Benfica to sign Andre Almeida, according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.

The Foxes are said to have contacted Benfica to find out how much Almeida will cost, and other conditions for a transfer. O Jogo are absolutely convinced there’s something in this one, and claim Leicester have asked Adrien Silva for his opinion.

Silva played for Sporting but still knows Almeida well as a player, and if O Jogo are correct he’s given a fulsome recommendation. Almeida has great versatility, is very professional, and fits well within a group, according to what Silva is said to have told Leicester City.

O Jogo also explain Almeida would look kindly on the move to the Premier League, fit in well and settle quickly.

It’s worth noting that Adrien Silva has spoken to the Portuguese media over the Christmas period, which could suggest the sourcing of these claims is very good indeed.

Andre Almeida is 27 years of age, and can play both fullback positions as well as in midfield.

Having only extended his Benfica contract in August, Almeida won’t be cheap for Leicester City.
