Dusan Tadic has a lot of admirers and there are several clubs interested in signing him in the summer transfer window.
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf talked about a potential ‘sensational’ Ajax transfer on Monday. Two days later, the same publication reported there is “more and more” belief the transfer could be realistic this summer.
There is also interest from Italy as AC Milan are looking at the option of signing Tadic. According to Calciomercato, Leicester City have now joined the race to sign the 29-year-old as they want him to replace Riyad Mahrez.
The Leicester star has handed in transfer requests to leave the King Power Stadium in the past two transfer windows. Pep Guardiola wanted to bring the Algerian international to Manchester City in January, but the deal didn’ take shape.
Mahrez’s wish to leave Leicester could be granted in the summer and they apparently want to sign Tadic as his successor. Another report from Calciomercato claims the Saints star is not a priority target for the Rossoneri.
The Dutchman’s current deal at St Mary’Stadium will run down in 2020. Press around Europe, probably mistakenly, feel Southampton would have been forced to sanction his sale if they were relegated from the Premier League.
However, Southampton have virtually avoided relegation following their 1-0 victory over Swansea City. Huddersfield Town’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea means the Welsh club’s drop to the Championship is virtually confirmed.
With Tadic attracting interest from Ajax, Leicester and Milan, it should be seen whether Southampton will be able to retain their player or not.
