Leicester City are reportedly blocking Islam Slimani’s departure on a loan deal this summer.
The Portuguese press has been reporting Sporting’s wish to sign the striker for months now, but today, newspaper Jornal de Notícias writes that he’s a ‘card out of the deck’.
It’s claimed that the negotiations have stopped because of Leicester City’s refusals, as the Foxes consider Slimani should only leave on a permanent deal.
A source has told Jornal de Notícias that ‘Sporting can’t get in these adventures’, and therefore, this chase should be at an end now.
Slimani was sold bySporting to Leicester City in 2016 in a €30m deal. He made 46 appearances and scored 13 goals in one and a half season for the Foxes.
Then the striker spent six months on loan at Newcastle United, where he only played four matches and couldn’t find the net.
So after a failed loan, Claude Puel doesn’t seem keen on taking that risk again.
