Leeds United have identified Palmeiras defender Joaquín Piquerez as a target, according to claims from Brazil.

Operating mainly as a left-back and at times as a wing-back, he’s scored four goals and registered five assists from 33 games this year.

Journalist Diego Firmino took to Twitter to state Leeds have shown interest in signing the 24-year-old. He further states the offer from the Whites ‘should arrive’ in the next few days.

The Uruguay international has a deal lasting until December 2025 and even though Daniel Farke’s side could table an offer for him, a deal could be difficult to carry out this summer.

That’s according to Torcedores, who state the player should continue at the club. It’s said Palmeiras’ board have ruled out his sale despite the interest from Leeds.

Should the Championship side still be keen on securing Piquerez’s services, they will have to find a way to convince Palmeiras.

Junior Firpo and Leo Fuhr Hjelde are the two left-backs at Elland Road while Pascal Struijk can be used in the same position. The former two have been linked with moves away from Leeds after relegation from the Premier League last season.
