Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the picture to sign Cody Gakpo in the last days of the summer window, according to Eindhovens Dagblad, relayed by FCUpdate.
Two days ago, the forward admitted he has options to join other clubs after confirming that Manchester United are a serious option. He has also opened the door to leaving PSV Eindhoven if the “whole picture is right” for him.
Leeds, Wolves and the Red Devils have been following the developments around the 23-year-old for weeks. Erik ten Hag’s side seem to be withdrawing from the battle for the Netherlands international, partly because they are close to signing Antony from Ajax.
Southampton asked about the player on Monday. They would have to battle it out with the Whites and Bruno Lage’s side since the latter two have the Dutchman’s name on their target list.
It’s said PSV ‘still have to fear the departure’ of their star, especially with Jesse Marsch’s side, Wolves and the Saints in the mix for the attacker’s signature.
If Gakpo were to leave the Eredivisie side, then they will have to find a replacement for him late in the market.
