It looks like Rafa Mujica could be about to face his third move in the past six months.
The 21 year old striker left Barcelona last summer to join Leeds United on a free transfer. he’d been playing for the club’s B, but they wanted to bring through other players and there was no struggle to keep Mujica at the club.
But with the Elland Road side seeing him like a player for the future, they loaned him out back to Spain, where he’s been at Extremadura.
He isn’t getting enough playing time at the La Liga 2 club either, with only 160 minutes from his six appearances, and that could mean an early departure for him.
Journalist Angel Garcia Alvarez reports today that he could be moving to Villarreal. Of course he wouldn’t be joining the first team, and would feature among the reserves instead.
He says this information ‘just got to him’, so we should expect some more updates from the local press in the next few days.
Extremadura were thought to have a buying option, however, the situation is clearly more complicated now.
Mujica has a contract with Leeds United running until 2022.
