Inter Milan are optimistic of getting a deal for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud completed by next week.

Giroud has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this month having found his playing time severely reduced under Frank Lampard.

Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen to take him to Inter Milan, and earlier today we covered a report from Sky Italia that he was ‘one step away’ from making the move.

Gazzetta Dello Sport back that up and say there is ‘optimism’ at Inter Milan that a deal can be completed by next week.

Giroud’s agents visited Inter’s headquarters two days ago, and that has ‘shortened’ the distance between the two clubs.

Inter are proposing a deal at €5m, which is €1m more than Sky were claiming, with Chelsea having already dropped their demands by €10m.

However, there is still no agreement between Inter and Giroud, as he is looking for a longer contract than they would like to give him.

While the Nerazzurri are proposing an 18-month deal, Giroud wants more, and they need to find a solution to close the transfer.
