Stuttgart midfielder Alexandru Maxim has forced himself back into Hannes Wolf’s team in recent weeks after being frozen out this season by the German manager. Maxim’s lack of game led to speculation the Romanian could be signing for Leeds United this summer, but the player has received glowing praise from Wolf following his recent form.
Wolf has been impressed with Maxim’s recent displays, and thinks the midfielder is improving his fitness after criticising him early this season for not tracking back. The Stuttgart boss believes the player has now found his ideal position, and that he can bring more to his team.
“Alexandru Maxim looks fit now – and fast. The Ten has no greater importance than the role on the left wing. Alexandru Maxim can now contribute to our whole game,” said Wolf to Stuttgarter Nachrichten.
However, despite these latest comments from Wolf it’s still uncertain if Maxim has a future at Stuttgart after comments he made this week. The Romania international said he was happy at the club, but will remain open about his future this summer.
During the last window Maxim’s agent confirmed he held initial talks with Leeds United over a possible move to the Championship side. At the time only Leeds United and Club America were showing an interest, but more clubs are expected to join the race in the summer.
Maxim is a player that has caught the attention of Garry Monk in the past and the Leeds United boss tried to sign the attacking midfielder when in charge of Swansea City.
