Leeds United have joined the race to sign AIK defender Haukur Heidar Hauksson, according to claims in the Icelandic media. The right back was part of Iceland’s squad for this summer’s Euros, and like many of his international teammates he’s been linked with a move this summer.
mbl.is have today reported Leeds United are looking to move in on Hauker, with claims they’ve already table a bid with AIK to sign the defender in this window.
The 24-year-old wasn’t used during the Euros by the Iceland manager, but is still being lined up as a like for like replacement for the departed Sam Byram after he joined West Ham United in the last transfer window. The full back still has 7 international caps.
If Haukur does arrive at Leeds United this summer he’ll be the second Allsvenskan player to arrive this summer following the signing of Kalmar forward Marcus Antonsson last month. The Swede signed a three-year deal with Leeds United for a fee in the region of £2m.
