Sunday’s edition of A Bola had a small article insisting Leeds United are still on the case for Tobias Figueiredo.
The Sporting defender was linked to Leeds United before the winter window opened and then everything went quiet, with the Portuguese club exploring other options for a sale or a loan.
A Bola said ‘the ball is now is Leeds’ court’ and explained the Championship club already know Sporting want €3-4m for the 23 year old central defender.
But the window is growing older and Sporting can hardly keep to demands they had for a best case scenario. There’s been Portuguese claims of other types of deals being possible and there’s no way another Liga NOS side will pay the price quoted.
Sporting beat Aves 3-0 on Sunday and Figueiredo was again out of the squad. He’s only been included four times this season and has featured for Sporting’s B team more.
The lack of other clubs strongly coming forward and the fact there’s now just two weeks left of the window gives Leeds United a great negotiating position. If Sporting want a Figueiredo sale this month, and the Portuguese press insist they do, then they’re going to have to compromise.
