Leeds United forward Chris Wood believes summer signings Kyle Bartley and Luke Ayling have brought something special to the squad. Both players have played their part in Leeds United’s push for promotion this season, and will be important to Garry Monk in the end of season run-in.
Speaking to Sky Sports EFL Podcast, Wood said his two Leeds United teammates have been impressive for the club despite only signing in the summer.
However, despite Wood’s praise for Bartley and Ayling, the New Zealander has branded the pair a married couple. The two players lodged together when they joined Leeds United, and Wood thinks they became good friends.
“They’re no longer housemates but they’re very tight. They’re like an old married couple to be honest. But they’re brilliant and have added so much to the squad, which is good,” said Wood.
Leeds United’s impressive season hasn’t just been down to the goals provided by Wood, but also the central defensive partnership of Bartley and Pontus Jansson.
Both players signed for Leeds United in the summer window, but have been able to build an understanding from the start.
Ayling has also been key to Leeds United in this campaign, and has made 34 league appearances for Monk’s side.
