During this international get together it was a certainty Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson would be quizzed by the Swedish media, following claims Southampton want to sign him.
Earlier today the 26-year-old said he wants Leeds United to invest in players this summer, and he’s gone on to say there is interest in him.
Sydsvenskan have reported on comments made by Jansson today when he was asked about his future at Leeds United.
Jansson confirmed other clubs are looking at him, but revealed he’s still happy at Leeds United. The Swede went on to say Leeds United are keen for him to remain at the club.
“I can only say that I know there is interest, but I really enjoy working in Leeds and they want to keep me,” said the Leeds United star.
Jansson has been linked with Southampton in recent weeks as speculation grows Virgil van Dijk could leave the Premier League side in the next window. Next month his agent will meet with Leeds United to come to a decision over the player’s future.
The Sweden international in the past several months has spoken about his dream of playing in the English top flight, and Southampton could give him this after Leeds United missed out on the play offs last season.
However, despite being repeated a lot, the original Southampton links weren’t particularly strong.
