Leeds United sent scouts to the game between Murcia and Valencia B last weekend, ahead of the summer transfer window. With the recent changes at the club it would be expected the Championship side would increase their scouting network in Spain.
Scouts Attending have reported a Leeds United official watched the Segunda B game between the two Spanish clubs on Sunday. There have been no reports who Leeds United were monitoring, but given the transfer window is set to open in the coming weeks it’s likely they were looking for potential targets.
Last month it was confirmed Victor Orta would be installed as Leeds United’s sporting director, and one of the Spaniard’s first tasks was to bring in Sevilla scout Dani Salas. During his time at Sevilla Salas ,was a key figure in the Spanish side’s recruitment, and it’s no coincidence Leeds United have stepped up their scouting in Spain.
However, even before Orta was brought in Leeds United signed Alfonzo Pedraza from Villarreal in January. At the time the winger was on loan with Segunda B side Lugo, but Leeds United’s failure to get promotion to the Premier League meant they didn’t make the youngster’s move permanent.
