The future of Sporting midfielder Matheus Nunes is once again covered by Portuguese newspaper Record today. The outlet explains that even though none of the interested sides have managed to take him from the Lions so far, it still isn’t guaranteed that he’ll be staying at Alvalade for the upcoming season.
Leeds United are said to be one of the sides who have been keen in the past few months.
Record claims the Elland Road side had been monitoring Matheus Nunes ‘at the same time’ they were fighting against relegation to the Championship. After they were guaranteed in the Premier League for next season, it’s said they ‘recently asked’ how much Sporting would demand for his transfer this summer.
The response given to Leeds was the same as to all other clubs, with the Lions asking for ‘at least’ €50m.
The newspaper recalls all the sides who’ve been linked to Nunes in the past few months, and the list includes the likes of Newcastle United, Everton, Bayern Munich, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The only club who seem to be still keen on the signing are Wolves, even though they’ve been rejected by the player, who wants to play the Champions League. European competition is something Leeds United can’t offer either, so the Whites would need convincing arguments to get this signing done.
